Ashiya desperately tries to cover her tracks and hide her secret as Sano and Nakatsu arrive in the States! Using the language barrier as an excuse, she stumbles along as her friends and family meet. Only for one of them to discover the truth. Gil and Sano also come face to face in the [attempted, but we know it's gonna be Sano lol] love triangle.
Okay, these couple chapters were hilarious. Ashiya dashing around her parents and screaming at any mention of "daughter" and the like had me genuinely laughing out loud. I also like that she told Gil her secret. His reaction to Sano as well was interesting. I'd be curious to see him return!
Finally back in Japan, Ashiya is determined to get a part time job, and wouldn't you know it, Hara, the photographer, just happened to be climbing in and offered her a spot working with him. (Literally climbing, through a window. Classic bi energy.) And while Ashiya tries her best, she ends up butting heads with the star model. Can she find a way to work amicably with him? And just where does he keep disappearing to after shoots?
Oscar and Kayashima get more of their story told, as we learn a little more of Oscar's family, and Kayashima's past; how he had been hurt before, and how he became friends with Nakatsu.
And dorm 1 has issues with their water pipes, leading the students to scatter and share rooms with students in dorms 2 and 3, including Ashiya's and Sano's room. Ashiya now has to be more on guard to keep her secret, with even more boys around her, though in good ol' manga fashion, there are definitely close calls.
Tensions also rise with Sano, as he internally struggles with his feelings. Letting his jealousy get the best of him, he unintentionally puts Ashiya in a compromising situation. What's hilarious and awkward for me, as someone who grew up in the States, all of this drama was over a kiss that the author thinks is how Americans greet each other. Again, we do not lmao. Sano would definitely be justified in his jealousy--a kiss in Japan means the same as a kiss in the US xD
A cute addition to the series. I enjoyed the touches of backstory, and as always, the humor is on point. (Also Kadoma is adorable. I love him and Kujou.) Where will things go from here? We'll just have to read on to find out. :)
For Japanese Learners: As this is a series, my thoughts are the same as volume one, which you can read more about that + my thoughts on the series as a whole here: https://learnnatively.com/review/b012ff0d41/
