Content warnings: sexualized nudity, murder, references to rape and incest
Language learning notes: There is very little furigana, names included. Vocab is a bit old fashioned, but the really odd ones get editor's notes on the side explaining the meaning which helps. Vocabulary is a bit wide, but grammar is straight forward and no one was talking in unusual ways that I noted.
Review: I think I would have liked this a lot more if I didn't so strongly dislike the main character. The plot is interesting - murders committed at a mysterious clock tower by an equally mysterious figure - but I couldn't sink into it due to the annoying personality of our protagonist. He's a compulsive liar, a layabout, and his primary focuses in life are sex and social recognition - both of which he's not very talented at getting.
There was also a reveal early on that I thought would have been much more fun if kept secret until later.
Overall I don't think I'll continue this series, but maybe if the author has another story with a lead I don't dislike as much I'd be open to reading another one of their works.
