I thought this was a pretty unique story and both main characters (Shirayuki and the male lead) are quite enjoyable, as are their companions. So far there hasn't been any melodrama, fan service, cliches, etc, though there's been plenty of action and non-action sequences for Shirayuki to demonstrate her bravery & cleverness. She's very level headed and balanced, and her friendship(?) with the male lead is really enjoyable. His personality and character are quite enjoyable as well. Things at the castle seem a lot more lax than I would expect though. I also really like the art style - neither too cutesy nor too heavy.
There's a cute 夏休み short story at the end that has nothing to do with the rest of the book.
