It's a pretty basic magical girl story (a la Sailor Moon), but it is nostalgic to me. I'm guessing it is targeted for fairly young readers (like Elementary 3rd grade and under) because there is a lot of hiragana. Ironically, it made it a little more difficult for me to read, but I got through just fine. If Kanji does appear it will have furigana. The series is getting a reboot anime soon, so there will probably be lots of promotions/sales for the series in the near future. Or you can watch the anime in tandem to practice listening.
