Disappointing
This was my first book by Isabel Allende and I hope that it's not the representative example of her writing, because I didn't particularly enjoy this. I DNFed on page 130 since the plot was very slow moving. It was also hard to connect with the characters since the narration kept jumping between timelines, each time covering very dark, depressing events. I suppose I'm the problem, but I thought that this was going to be a romance, which I didn't see any of by page 130. 2 stars.
Spanish level: I read this extensively and thought it wasn't too difficult, although I didn't look up all of the adjectives being used.
