This book is a collection of short biographies (~10-15 pages long, big font) which you would expect to find in a second grade classroom. They're cute stories, mostly about overcoming initial struggles to great success and you might learn a few things. The familiarity of the stories does aid in reading, as you generally know what the biographies are about - Christopher Columbus, Edison, Da Vinci, Tezuka (a pioneer in manga & anime).

Everything has furigana and the language isn't too strange, although the overabundance of kana does sometimes create confusion. The WaniKani vocabulary sheet and discussion threads are a massive help though!

Overall, this is a very good beginner book and could be a great first book too. I personally tend more towards fictional narratives, but these biographies kept me relatively entertained.
