This is part of a series titled はじめての文学 which consists of collections of stories by authors like Banana Yoshimoto and Haruki Murakami. As the name implies, the stories written with fewer kanji than one might expect. In this sense it is intended for children, though the stories themselves don't seem child-like to me. I am extremely grateful I found this resource - interesting content that is accessible. I'm not sure magical realism is the best genre for a language learner - I find myself second guess my understanding of the language when something surreal happens - but if you like Murakami, I recommend this book.
