もしもの世界ルーレット あったら便利? “スペアの体”の使い方 他

I liked this a lot more than 世にも奇妙な商品カタログ, the author's other series! Since they do have a similar style (i.e. short stories/arcs with an interesting device/setting as the main point), here's a comparison of things I liked in each:

もしもの世界ルーレットあったら便利:

• Much longer arcs! While each arc stands more or less on its own, they are all embedded in the bigger narrative, and their length doesn't make them feel like short stories.
• A wider host of recurring characters which the main character frequently interacts with. (Most カタログ stories have a main character we never met before and feature barely any character interactions, or indeed any side characters to interact with.)
• I'm not sure I agree this is as low as L20 (its rating at the time I'm writing this), but it's definitely felt a bit easier than カタログ. The longer arcs also give you more time to settle.

世にも奇妙な商品カタログ:

• More of a "supernatural" feeling. カタログ has bonafide magical artifacts, while in ルーレット (apart from the titular gimmick) the stories feel more like very soft sci-fi to me: Explorations of what would happen if a certain technology was available, but without actually explaining how the technology works from a technical standpoint.

Seems like the next volume might be coming out in Spring 2024, and I'm looking forward to continuing with this series.
