Monster is a great psychological thriller, but might seem difficult to read for a few reasons. It takes place in Europe and incorporates a lot of foreign words and names, all in katakana. The main character is a brain surgeon, so there are a lot of highly specialized medical terms (especially in the first few chapters). It's also a seinen series with no furigana and advanced vocabulary in general. All of this can make it seem daunting in the beginning, but it gets easier if you keep reading. I believe it's worth the effort.
