Not as easy as expected
I picked this up as my easy book to go alongside a level 30 book and well, it's not actually easy. To be honest, at times this isn't really far off something like キノの旅. Shinichi Hoshi's style is pretty straight forward, but in a number of stories the vocabulary, kanji, and themes are not.
The stories are at a mixture of levels, as the length, vocabulary, and kanji usage varies. For example, easier stories might use kana for かれ whilst others may use 彼.
There's a good splattering of N1/N2 grammar (lots of となると, たまえ、たところで, といったら、etc). Similar to 気まぐれロボット there’s general sci-fi theme; however, there's a wider variety of scenarios and vocabulary.
If you're after an easy offering by Shinichi Hoshi, as he is often recommended, I'd pickup 気まぐれロボット instead of this. Kimagure Robot I has only 4 page stories, which are easier to follow than these. There is also a furigana version if you find that useful.
The stories are great though. It's great to laugh at a twist in a foreign language!
