This manga is a classic! Doraemon, a robotic cat from the 22nd century, comes back to help out the hapless のび太 and make his life a little less miserable. Of course, with every attempt to help, there are unfortunate, hilarious consequences that need to be resolved :)
I enjoyed it - It's certainly targeted towards children and the humor is a bit silly (although less dumb in my estimation than something like Shirokuma Cafe), but it's cute. It's something I wouldn't read on my own in my native language, but would love reading it to a kid.
As for language learning, this manga is chock full of daily phrases, so I found it super useful! While it does have a robotic cat, it entirely focuses on のび太's daily life. It has furigana, pretty easy vocabulary and the grammar isn't too tough. It's probably a bit much for a first manga, but I think it would make a great second or third manga.
