It definitely felt like things were being rushed and skipped over in this volume; as I mentioned in my review for the first volume, this adapts a four-novel series, so it's inevitable things would get cut, but I was really feeling it in this volume, especially in terms of character development and relationship development. It wasn't a bad book per se, but it's definitely one of those where you know you'll be getting so much more if you can read the source material.
I felt like this was an easier read than the first book as well, since there weren't any more new "Chinese" words introduced and I could coast on the ones that were already used in volume 1.
Note: the author of the original books included a new short story at the end of this volume titled "Good & Bad Morning".
