Squinting Squinting Squinting

I don't understand why this is the collector's edition. Not only are there typos but the printing choice was just bad imo. For some reason, the ink is a medium brown. I've got nothing against nonstandard ink colors, but this one is just hard to see and the printing machine doesn't seem to have made full contact. It's hard to tell at times if there was an attempt to include furigana or if it was supposed to be whited out.

As far as the language goes when you can see it, it's mostly straightforward. I'd say it's around upper-intermediate. As someone at around an N2 level, I struggle to read it in longer sessions but I'm not sure if it's the fantasy words or advanced grammar or a combo.

As far as the manga goes for itself... I find it fairly difficult to follow the action. Whereas many mangaka draw upon standards for comics, Miyazaki doesn't have the same background and it almost seems like he's instead storyboarding for an anime. Luckily this volume mostly follows the same plot as the movie, but I worry about future volumes where I can't rely on anime knowledge to understand the composition of a scene. Whereas in the movie, the opening scene with Nausicaa moving in and out and then along the edge of the toxic jungle (腐海) is easy to follow, I think I'd feel like we went in circles with the manga alone. That feeling is present across many scenes. Whereas with movies, the transitions, sounds, and camera motion help establish these things, the usage of panel and page composition in the manga is lacking in quality. I appreciate Miyazaki as a director. I hope he continues to work on directing projects.
