The art has an interesting style and is nice to look at, and I enjoyed the story as well - set in 1984, a boy struggling after the death of his mother and being bullied gains confidence in himself when he falls in love with and begins to pursue rhythmic gymnastics, despite the added social difficulties of being a boy doing a 'girl' activity. (As mentioned in the manga, there's a separate 'rhythmic gymnastics' sport for men in Japan, but the main character explicitly wants to do the version performed by women.) I liked seeing him grow in confidence and become bolder, as well as the varied reactions of the people around him, and I'm looking forward to the second volume.
There is very little furigana except on names. The story also takes place in rural Hiroshima and most of the characters speak in dialect, which I found a bit hard to understand sometimes.
