This is a book that's meant for kids to dip their toes into philosophy for the first time, and it has a few features that makes it good for a language learner.

  • The whole book is structured as dialogue between the four characters (three kids and an adult) with every speaker labeled, so you don't have to worry about narration, descriptions, or figuring out who's talking.
  • Conversation topics are also clearly labeled.
  • You don't have to know anything about philosophy. No specific philosophy or schools of thought are referenced, and there's no specialized language.
  • You get to read simple explanations of concepts that aren't necessarily easy to explain such as duty and morality.

You won't find any sort of plot or story here--it's really just four people standing around and talking about various things--but I still enjoyed it as a quick, straightforward read.
