Meh
Story
I love the ultra-clean Japanese retro-modern backdrop with the beautiful costumes and the atmospheric music but that wasn't enough to make up for the story and its pace. After nearly 5 hours of runtime, I would have expected more development but the story is moving at a very leisurely pace. The show also failed to grab my attention for the cases they solve. It really felt どうでもいい for me so I wasn't invested. I am saying that as someone who is not a big fan of the 探偵 genre though. I stopped watching after 5 episodes.
Language
The show is rather approachable I would say. I wouldn't recommend it for absolute beginners but I haven't had too much trouble understanding the gist. The female MC is very articulate and 聞き取りやすい with her calm voice tone. Truly, the hardest thing was the thick kansai-ben coming from the 店員さん of the restaurant the MCs regularly visit but all they say is essentially banter and small talk so you're not losing much. Due to the historical setting, all(?) on-screen text uses 旧字体 and カタカナ in places where you'd expect ひらがな, so if you're not aware of these things, you may get a surprise.
