This coming-of-age book is set in a small town in the countryside. A girl from Seoul moves to the small town with her mom, after her mom gets a new job at the town's clinic. The girl is distraught — she doesn't understand why her parents divorced, and why she couldn't stay in Seoul. She soon meets two other kids in the town, who both have family issues of their own. This book is about the three kids' emotional growth over the course of a year.
This book was a little too slow for me — I personally enjoy more plot-heavy stories, and this book was more about each characters' individual growth. It was also unexpectedly difficult at times because one of the characters is a farmer (which meant encountering new vocabulary like "chemical fertilizer"), and another character enjoys botany (which meant learning about native Korean flowers and trees).
If you decide to read this, I recommend a physical copy. Mine has a green cover, and it comes with lovely illustrations of the characters and scenes in the story.
