I do think every topic the books tackles on is important for language learning but I thought it went too deep into some pronunciation stuff (the first book I ever saw do that) that is maybe not all that necessary for JLPT purposes... But after using this and Try! to prepare for N4, I was actually very confident during the test, so maybe the complexity was for the best.
