This is one of those doomed romance stories where the girls are always sick and dying. Guess these are usually aimed more at the YA demographic but this feels like it's leaning towards a slightly older audience. The protagonists are in their mid-twenties at least.
I think the first half of this started well, slowing building the relationship between the two main characters in an engaging way. The second half was a little too dragged out for me though, with quite a lot of repetitive segments. A surprisingly large proportion of the story takes place with the protagonists separated, so I was constantly waiting for something dramatic to happen, which didn't really occur until right at the end.
Difficulty seems consistent with other high 20 novels. Clearly aimed at an ordinary Japanese audience, it has fairly straightforward prose and standard vocabulary outside of a bit of medical terminology.
