This is my Review in Progress. As of writing this I am about 20% of the way through and am loving ever bit of it. It has surreal elements as others have mentioned but it's generally a very easy to follow story (especially if you have seen the movie). It certainly isn't easy as there are rare kanji and grammar scattered throughout but nothing that has kept me from enjoying this year long bar crawl (so far).
I still have another 80% of the book to read, but I encourage people looking for a challenge but something lighthearted. Books around this level tend to deal with really dark themes and while this book definitely brings up a lot of philosophical (and sophistic) concepts, I really enjoy the light atmosphere of it all.
As my title suggests, I think this book is best read in short sessions. I usually pick it up, read until the next 〇 and call it a session. Each day I try to read about 3 bits throughout the day. Obviously if you want to do more you can, that's just how I recommend doing it if you require some more look ups than the average reader.
UPDATE (50%):
Getting to Chapter 3, I feel the book amps up its reader level pretty significantly and I struggled to get through much of it. I will keep this review up, but just know that I will return in the fall to try again!
