The story focuses on our two main characters from elementary school until near the end of middle school. The perspective changes between the two every few chapters and tends to go over some of the same events but from the other's point of view. Despite that, it never felt repetitive. The author did a good job giving each character their own voice and seeing things from a different perspective helped tie everything together.
Some of the story felt predictable at times but I think its more important on how the author gets us to those moments rather than being unpredictable and they did a good job with that. The story definitely had me feeling emotional at times. There's a good balance of happier moments and more melancholic moments.
There's the occasional long sentence and uncommon vocab used throughout but overall I think its on the easier side language-wise.
