Pretty fun, short children’s book! MC struggles at school and at home after her mom gets sick. One day, she wakes up and realizes the colors from the mural on her wall are fading. She faces nightmares, and a fall out with her friend leaves her with no one to talk to. Until one day, she meets a boy new to the neighborhood. He’s in a wheelchair— although that doesn’t stop him. They explore, and slowly learn more about one another.
This was a quick read, and although it was sad at times, it also left me with a hopeful feeling. The characters reveal more of themselves as time goes on and show growth. The plot is resolved and everything felt tied together nicely. It’s a translated novel, it wasn’t originally written in Korean. In some ways, I think that made it easier to understand.
