From a language learning perspective - there are a scattering of idioms throughout the book, but there's aren't many flourishes to the writing and it's otherwise fairly standard and leaning towards dialogue heavy. Some medical and criminal vocab, but minimal and the few very technical terms are explained by the characters themselves.
I think if you can handle a general adult novel and don't mind looking up a handful of words this will pose no issues.
From the 'did I enjoy this' perspective...mixed. I've read a lot of this author's books and while I enjoy them for being easy to read, some, like this one, don't quite hit the mark. I figured out the main twist very early on, and spent the rest of the book frustrated as the main character stayed blissfully unaware of it. Which, speaking of the main character, she drove me nuts. I tried to give her some leeway in being emotional as her father had just died, but she was just so frustrating to read, especially as she seemed to just serve as the hysterical and weak character foil to the other two main characters who were quite stoic throughout it all.
There was one decent twist at the end of the book which I did scent, but didn't pin down as quickly and firmly as the other one and was satisfying to read.
Overall I'd recommend this to someone who wants a fairly casual and easy mystery read and isn't bothered by what I mentioned above.
