In contrast to most other manga I've read, Slam Dunk does not follow a predictable arc or a chapter formula. Of course, there are overarching arcs that you can guess, but the stories behind each character and the gradual world building means every chapter is different. New characters and situations surprised me a lot and I had a lot of fun with this volume. I can see why Slam Dunk seems to have an unusually high number of people reading it deep into the series/to the end.
