It started off strongly enough, but got more convoluted and drawn out over time, occasionally introducing some really farfetched and out of left field plot points. It definitely requires a huge amount of suspension of disbelief, but even within the story it sets up, there's various things that just don't add up (or seem to contradict themselves). There's plenty to enjoy despite that, but also plenty to be frustrated with.
Nagi reminds me of Uesugi Fuutarou from 五等分の花嫁 , though he's considerably nicer and surprisingly not dense (most of the time), and he actually gets a rival. His 許嫁 Erika also kind of resembles Itsuki, but is nicer and less aggressive (most of the time). One thing I do really like is that the two actually have a relationship with very open communication (though they're certainly clumsy at it, at times). Honestly the main thing that kept me going is that I found the two of them enjoyable. Between the two shows, I think 五等分の花嫁 is a much better show, since it avoids things getting too convoluted, and there is solid character development and romantic progress (something this show is very inconsistent about). It also doesn't involve hypocritical bro-con from an abusive-for-humor tsundere sister. カッコウの許嫁 utilizes its musical score very well, and I think it would have been much less convincing without it. Overall I liked the two 許嫁 enough that if a second season comes out, I'll probably watch it, despite the show's flaws.
Language-wise there's some interesting expressions here and there, but otherwise nothing remarkable.
