I was not expecting this, lol
I honestly have no idea what my rating for this show is. It was incredibly bizarre, extremely cheesy, yet oddly entertaining. Did I like it? I have no idea, but it's memorable (in a way), if nothing else.
This TV show is an adaption of the video game of the same name; having not played the video game, I don't know how close of an adaption it is (although I highly doubt it took more than names and a vague, general premise from it). We follow two private detectives of the Kuzunoha agency: Kyouji Kuzunoha and, uh, his female partner whose name I honestly don't remember, even though she was a main character and all. (Was it Rei? All I remember is her shouting his name constantly....) Murders start breaking out, caused by demons, and our heroes must somehow stop this demonic threat!
This show was probably filmed on a budget of $2.50, and the scriptwriter paid in Cheetos. Dialogue is relatively sparse and bizarre when it's not bare-bones. The action is poorly mimed and/or carried out through incredibly cheap special effects (ever wanted to see a woman shoot a laser beam out of her mouth?). The plot is...not as bad as it could have been, all things considered; when you strip it down it's mostly okay, though I'm still not sure how certain characters were related, or even what happened to them in the end. The music is serviceable, and the actors generally sound crisp and clear, which was an unexpected bonus.
Recommended if you need something nice and cheesy and not too hard to watch on a Friday night.
