Series Blurb
Based off of the original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series from Haruichi Furudate, Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shouyou Hinata's love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school. Unfortunately the team is matched up against the "King of the Court" Tobio Kageyama's team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama. After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.

Good for sports terminology
Haikyu!! is the gold standard for modern sports anime. The reason it's so beloved is due to its solid cast of characters. Both the main team and the opposition have a lot of personality, sometimes making you want to root for both teams.
Haikyu!! is a good anime for learning Japanese due to its easy-to-follow story. Even if you understand nothing you can follow the matches. A lot of the in-match dialogue is easy to pick up due to how close some of it is to English (One touch, nice receive etc) and how often it is repeated.
I found the team coach's dialogue to be the hardest to follow. They use a lot of sports jargon relating to tactics, but you can get a basic idea of what they are saying. I also picked up a lot of sports terminology watching.
