Very original concept & world building. Enjoyable characters
I found the world, characters, and magic system pretty interesting - and especially liked the visual depiction of the magic. While I'm pretty burnt out of isekai, the story is anti-isekai in a sense, and this is incorporated in a pretty interesting way, from the start, both in the premise and actual story (also the MC is not the isekai'd character).
The relationship development between Menou & Akari is very enjoyable to watch too. While I initially had a few doubts the way Akari was written, those were cleared up soon enough. I liked the character designs overall (besides Akari), and found the main cast all pretty enjoyable. Everybody has something unique, and something they're keeping a secret from the others (well the princess doesn't seem to have a secret). I found the initial villain pretty interest, and the various mysteries in the plot engaging. That said, I didn't really care for the final baddie of the season.
While I get the impression things were a bit condensed (especially at the beginning), the anime apparently adapted only 2 volumes, over 12 episodes, and besides one character's actions, I felt like I understood things. In any case, it's got me curious to go to the novels. On a yuri note: there are strong elements from the get-go, but even in the novels, the relationship is a very slow burn.
