Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto, the girl in the seat next to him in class. But he despairs when he borrows her eraser and sees she's written the name of another boy—Ida—on it. To make matters more confusing, Ida sees Aoki holding that very eraser and thinks Aoki has a crush on him!

I was hoping the interesting premise would carry me through, but this went the direction of "standard high school romcom" extremely quickly, unfortunately.

I found this cute and silly high school rom-com entertaining enough, although the "rom" side felt slightly lacking. The love interest, Ida, is a bit wooden and exudes an I-Am-Very-Straight vibe, which is fine at the start of the show, but doesn't make the denouement very convincing.
The supporting cast were more entertaining - that class contains some characters! Aida - Aoki's BFF, wingman, and personal Sherlock (lol) - is the most entertaining of the main cast, and I couldn't help but burst out laughing at the two students having a very dignified tea party on the rooftop.
Nothing particularly difficult in regards to language, which shouldn't be a surprise given the genre and setting.
A fun and easy watch suitable for beginners.

I agree with the other reviews that the "rom" portion of this series is severely lacking although the comedy aspect was very funny. I found that my favorite characters were more so the supporting characters rather than the main. Especially since one of the main characters, Aoki, constantly uses very overexpressive gestures that made me visibly cringe at times (hiding behind a wall, crying, shouting). Along with his love interest, Ida being very "wooden" throughout every single episode like another reviewer commented. Good for language learning and funny at times but I don't think I would watch this again.
