another nice CGDCT-type show

highly recommend if you're into this sort of genre. all of the characters are very fun and cute. learning a bit about various DIY tools is enjoyable as well - but obviously don't expect to learn too much in that regard. also, OP is a banger.

the basic premise is a group of girls form a DIY/ crafting club in highschool. throughout the show, they work together to create various projects - largest of which is a treehouse. as typical with CGDCT, there is no serious plotline.

the show's great for language learning as well. faily simple. so much so i think it would be a decent first anime. no weird accents/ dialects or anything. the specialized DIY words are few and far between, so i won't worry about that much.

the only exception to the weird accents: there is one character who randomly speaks english spoken by what i assume is a japanese native, so the accent is so bad to the point i think they're speaking japanese - but it is only for brief phrases like "good job"! (because of this, her nickname is Job).

random for fun things to mention:

there is a made-up manga that seems like a parallel to the main story. two of the characters are die-hard fans of the books. the interactions of the two gushing over the books, i found amusing.

the relationship between the main two: serifu (an airhead) and purin (a tsundere), i found cute. they kept flashing back to this one scene where serifu is putting a candy in purin's mouth - as if its the only memory the two have. its cute nonetheless.

there is some overarching theme you could gleam from the show. in todays world of convenience, what's the point of building things by hand? you have 3D printers, AI, magic jellyfish who can add the water to your bath. but the characters soon discover with a screwdriver and as a team, you can still make some neat stuff. wow.

i can't really think of any negatives atm so 10/10

Lovely overlooked CGDCT show

The flat, retro style of this show is a breath of fresh air among modern anime, and belies a skilful and soulful animation that made this one of the highlights of its season for me.

The plot and characters are nothing too unexpected for a cute girl show (though it is set in the future with some sci-fi elements that are welcome but unfortunately never much explored), but its execution of the expected is well-done.

Outside of the DIY explanation parts and a couple of more in-depth conversations, the dialogue is very clear and leisurely. This was one of the easiest to understand without subtitles shows I've seen, and would be a good pick for beginners.
