Decent straight adaptation of the manga
Leaving aside that this lacks the 90s shoujo charm of the original anime, it's nearly identical to the manga. The animation style is a bit cold feeling, but they do bring out the darker and more serious fantasy elements well. The main cast feels a lot more competent and dynamic, and it really excels at the main plot and battles.
I don't know how much I'd recommend the show on its own, but it's really great reinforcement if you read the manga along
