(4.20/5)Real Tearjerker
I was so surprised at how good this show. I jumped in to it blindly because it matched my level and it looked interesting, but man oh man, this show is short, sweet, and fucking moving. Almost every episode has me getting teary-eyed, and the ending had me bawling. I can't believe this show isn't more popular/acclaimed, especially with how prescient it is given the following earthquake/tsunami/nuclear disaster in 2011.
The show is not very challenging and the dialogue is very comprehendible. There's a clear distinction between the difficulty of the dialogue between characters (which is easy to understand) and the dialogue of the news reporters (which uses a lot of disaster-specific vocab). Because a lot of the tough vocab is left up to the news reporters, the actual character dialogue and story is really fun and easy to understand.
This is a great show for learners, especially to take a break from heavily child-oriented content and watch something a little more mature/dark.

REALLY well made and extremely good ending
the show delivers what it says it will, high production value and well written ending bring it together well. there were a few boring episodes in the middle but that was ok and worth it.
language is mostly simple if you ignore, well , the main topic of the show. the interactions between the normal characters are easy, the news sections are difficult, and rescue workers etc are medium level. if you read a bunch of nhk articles already its not gonna be too difficult.
