(4.24/5)Relaxing beginner-friendly slice of life
This is a very relaxing and soothing iyashikei (癒し系). As such, don't expect crazy plot twists or in-depth character development. As a self-rated ~N4 student, I found the anime rather accessible. It's a lot of day-to-day vocabulary, spoken in a casual style without crazy slang.
Camping-specific terminology, when used, is always explained and lavishly illustrated beforehand so you shouldn't worry about that. However, I've found the voice-over narrator who gives background information on camping gear, food recipes, and locations to be rather hard to understand but he doesn't appear too often and you can, for the most part, ignore him if you want.
Something important to note is that some of the main characters do have some speaking “quirks”. One character speaks in light 関西弁 (Kansai dialect), while another character that I've dubbed “Miss Z” somehow manages to squeeze in a ぜ or a ぞ in almost every line she says.
If the perspective of Kansai-ben worries you, simply memorize this short list and you'll be good to go:
- や=だ・です
- な=ね
- せやな=そうですね (she says that all the time)
- ほんま=本当
- ええ=良い
- めっちゃ=とても
Generally speaking, you'll be naturally reviewing the same vocabulary multiple times throughout the series.
Overall, I enjoyed the animation. The background music gets repetitive after a while but the landscapes were pretty, the food looked delicious and the story was easy to follow.

A Very Relaxing Show
This is probably one of the biggest slice of life series to come out recently. Its popular enough to have multiple seasons, a movie, games and a gacha. SoL tends to be my favorite genre so I decided to finally try it out.
The show didn't live up to the hype that surrounds it but it is still an enjoyable watch. The art is very pretty and they show off a lot of different places that they camp at. The show has a very calming feel to it and all the characters have their own quirks that make them likeable.
I think my biggest issue with the show is that it feels more like a food show than a camping show at times. Almost every episode has a heavy focus on food. Food talk in anime tends to bore me so I think the show is just not for me. I still liked most episodes but I don't think I will continue past season 1.
Language wise the show is mostly standard SoL stuff with a lot of camping and food terminology thrown in. The show does a good job showing everything it is talking about. So when they are talking about how to set up a tent, the different type of sleeping bags, etc even if you don't know the words they're using you can easily follow along because of the animation.
