Good modern vibe, but too compressed

I'm writing this after episode 4 10. I think they got the vibe well enough for a modern adaptation, but at times it feels quite shallow. Watching it alongside the 1970s 赤毛のアン | L29, this version is very compressed - essentially like getting the highlights - and I don't really feel that same spark & connection from it.
