I’m an American who has lived in Japan for the last 8 years.

I came here at about an N3 level after studying Japanese in university, and have climbed my way up to N1 via self study (using resources like Bunpro, Jpdb.io, and several textbooks).

However, life circumstances have shown me that I require a much higher level of Japanese proficiency than my current level. To that end, I am determined to read 100 books in 2025.

I have read 50 books over the last 3 years (mostly children’s horror stories and mysteries), but I intend to venture into young adult novels of varying genres and hope to eventually break into adult level literature within this year’s 100 book challenge.
