Really good book, best one I've read so far in the mystery genre. Very well worth the read, hard parts due to vocabulary and some colloquial/kansai ben, but otherwise pretty simple grammar.
Note: I recommend keeping a list of characters with the general gist of who they are, as the story progresses. Because, there's toooooo many characters and time skips, so it's hard to track, especially if you suck at kanji names like I do.
Biased in liking it because it, shockingly, reminded me a lot of my hometown which had a lot of similarities with the main stage in this book. Tugumi as a character is also kinda cool, although a bit edgy.
The book is funny and pretty straightforward, the book is a bit old so the expressions are a bit dated (not nearly as bad as something from Kawabata and such) but still easy to read.
Seen the anime before so reading this was pretty easy to follow. I liked the anime a lot back when I watched it so this was nice to read and get some nostalgia. There are things in this book, that isn't in the anime so its a nice addition.
Long book, that has a second part that I've also read, but I recommend it if you like horror and mystery.
