overall, i enjoyed my second watch of 개마을 차차차 where i focused on listening and picking up new vocabulary. in that sense, it was great! i watched with korean subtitles only and turned them off when i was feeling more confident. i learned a lot of new vocabulary and listening helped cement some grammar in my mind. it was a good experience for working on my korean. a lot of the show revolves around being in a tight knit seaside community and the relationships within, so there's not much hyperspecif

비 밤의 오는 달 vol. 1 is a wholesome story that focuses on the friendship (and hints of eventual romance) between two highschool girls: saki, a piano student questioning some aspects of her identity, and kanon, an icy hard of hearing student. what really makes this series stand out, in my opinion, is the character writing. saki is dedicated to being a thoughtful friend to kanon without being written as a perfect heroine character -- saki makes mistakes as she learns what situations are and aren't dif

korean grammar in use (beginning) is a solid introduction to korean grammar without having too little or too much content. grammar points are well explained without being confusing.
i went into this with the intent of reviewing, not learning these grammar points for the first time, and it is a resource i will use as a refresher if need be.
the example sentences are simple, concise, and stay that way up until the end, where sentences became longer and more reading was required. they are still
the melancholic atmosphere and ever looming saddness from the main protagonist, hinako, sets this story apart from other "supernatural creature protects main protagonist" series. hinako's grief and how it impacts her day to day life is shown through subtle expressions, her inner monologue, and actions. the plot so far is quite simple though and nothing too special in itself, but i found it to be a fun read regardless.
