The amount of times I burst out laughing in a public space because of this book is too many for me to count. The book is compiled of a lot of small scenes in which a cat takes on a certain role (i.e. plumber, teacher, technician). With funny twists at the end, the author makes you think about what cats would do in these situations. If you are a cat lover like me, this book is a delight.
As for the language learning aspect, it did not do much for me. There is very little text outside some small
The author takes us through her struggles with mental health with small cartoons and diary entries. She illustrates common daily situations with her drawings and reflects back on her thoughts and feelings from the time. A lot of the situations are accompanied by the diary entries of the author which allow you a deeper insight.
Even though I have never experienced a burn-out like the author has, I related to a lot of the stories. I found myself laughing sometimes, but also reflecting on my own m
It might just be the fate of most graded readers that they are a bit boring, especially at the beginning because you are limited to certain topics. It is a useful book with reading passages, audio, and comprehension questions. It teaches you useful vocabulary for TOPIK level 2 and also some specific vocabulary about specific daily situations in Korea, like at the doctor or a restaurant.
Why it didn't manage to keep me engaged might be because it was below my level once I got through half of the
I devoured this book. Graded readers are usually quite boring, but book 3 of this series had an interesting range of topics, like activities to do at the Han river or seasonal festivals to go to in Korea. I am not an avid textbook user and I tend to get bored of them really quickly, but I finished this one in two months.
After each chapter, there are helpful comprehension, vocabulary, and writing exercises. Not too many, but enough to challenge yourself. I found that first doing this exercises
These books are the Korean translation of the Heartstopper series, originally written in English. It follows the love story of two boys who fall in love with each while struggling with coming out, mental health, friendships, and family. It is truly heartwarming seeing them figuring it all out.
The language is very accessible. Because of the Netflix series and the English books, the story is familiar to most and together with the pictures a high-beginner can easily follow-along with the story.
a real life queer story
this short novel is about two girls and their whole love story, the cute parts of being in love and the tough parts of being queer in a homophobic society included.
the language was not too difficult, just some adjectives that i had to look up. lots of informal language too. besides there was an english translation on the other page, and though i did not read that it was not an exact translation.
definitely recommend to anyone wanting to read about queer women in south korea.
