Full-throttle unique action sci-fi
Literally huge manga, A4 size, that comes with a large font. There is so much action that there isn't a whole lot of text to even read at times. With that it can be a quick read. I was 'late' for my goal of reading it within 1 month so I powered through 100 pages in less than 1 hour. It sounds silly now for a 1-month goal when it could probably be read in less than 4 hours, and probably less than 1-2 hours for a native speaker. The goal got me to pick it up off the shelf though.
It reads like an action flick with quick scenes and lots of violence. It is so cool to go through this kind of a story in this medium and while there is a scene or two in school (a pet peeve of mine for what feels like 95% of manga set in school), it is primirily outside of school in the streets of cyberpunk Japan. The language is also more accessible than other popular sci-fi out there. While, there is a lot of slang.
Otomo's stuff is great: unique, exciting, sci-fi, action-packed. The only other exciting manga that even comes close to this much action and excitement, and is not written by Otomo, is All You Need Is Kill.
