(4/5)Watched anime, love the novel even more
As i liked anime adaptation it's natural i love the book even more. Read 2-3 months before N2 and was challenging at first with how polite language is sometimes and because its Meiji-Taisho, but definately doable at this point.
I enjoyed the story a lot, I devoured the whole book in three days (which usually doesn't happen to me).
I deliberately chose to not create vocabulary cards for this book but only look up words to understand the flow of the story. This was alright for the majority of the book but I didn't end up having much clue about what was going on in any of the magical scenes and explanations. This didn't hold me back too much though, since those scenes tended to be short.
I can recommend this book if yo
The protagonist, Miyo, demonstrated no magical powers in a society where this matters, and so grew up abused and neglected by her family. They sent her off in an arranged marriage to a man with a cruel reputation, from whom several potential brides have already fled. To everyone’s surprise, including their own, they get along, and gradually grow closer.
I’d read two volumes of the manga and then stopped. Cinderella stories are fine but it makes me uncomfortable when a story dwells for too long
Enjoyed reading this one.
For language, the first like 70-80% of the book, wasnt that hard of a read, sure theres alot of rare vocab but I could read it fine with look ups. But then the last bit, I really struggled to follow along haha. Had to really lock in, kinda took away the joy of reading abit.
