General: This is a somewhat interesting series that attempts a creative take on questions around death. It had a lot of potential, but only partially lived up to it, imo. Thematically it does pretty well. To the story's credit, it has a very cool visual aesthetic, and it was easy to keep reading, even though I was confused half the time.
Story: The story's biggest issue is its often breakneck pace, and over-reliance on action scenes. Sometimes the fights are totally plausible (like defending against grave robbery), but more often it's just characters who've never met suddenly deadly assaulting each other, within seconds of meeting. Additionally, for all the times that the protagonists declared how important they were to each other, their relationship felt pretty shallow a lot of the time - sometimes unbelievably so. There were many times throughout the series where I felt like "that's it?? That's all you do in this situation?!".
The other place where the series really suffers is character designs. While everyone looks cool, they are not well distinguished from each other, and it's often really confusing to tell who is who. Add that to panels where it's just really hard to tell what's going on, and it's easy to get lost along the way. Anyway, I didn't hate the series (I read it all in one go), but I found a lot of it frustrating, and far too chaotic.
Language: there's interesting death/funeral related vocab. One thing that really tripped me up was not realizing that 有情 (うじょう sentient beings; humanness, compassion) was a location... which seems like a necessary thing to clarify when you have undead and living characters walking around together for literally the entire comic. (Maybe that was just my own poor reading comprehension tho)
