This is 90% a Yumi & Sachiko story, and is the first time I've truly enjoyed them as a couple! As the cover suggests, it's a summer vacation story - and we get to see some more of what life is like in Sachiko's world. Thankfully Yumi and Sachiko's growth from the last novel really shines through here, and Yumi's newfound confidence, combined with Sachiko's improved sensitivity and communication are really refreshing and enjoyable. (Not to say that things don't get a bit rocky along the way)
While the story is almost entirely focused on them, we do see a bit of the usual cast - 山百合会, photoboy, newspaper girl, Sachiko's relatives, and Yumi's family a bit too. I have to say I enjoy both Suguru and Touko's moments in this (especially Suguru). All in all, some much appreciated sunshine, after the storms of the last 2 volumes. Also this book has one of my favorite Yumi moments in the entire series towards the end! (tho I think it landed even better in the anime)
