Love me some angsty fantasy. This is quite ambitious for a light novel, and I think it doesn't quite hold together - but still, inject those broken oaths, betrayals, tragic past lives, and general misery right into my veins. I probably wouldn't recommend it if plotholes and rule-of-cool nonsense bothers you a lot because I did find the lack of explanations and depth in certain places to distract from what was happening. I don't mind ambiguity in fantasy, but some of this feels more not-thought-through than intentional.
But that aside, I liked it a lot. Ruze is a compelling character, and I think the thematic content around whether or not people should be forgiven is well put forward. The writing is quite good overall (though sometimes overexplains itself), and it's a pretty light, easy read.
Difficulty-wise, there is quite a bit of fantasy vocabulary. It's not anything too crazy though.
