Interesting but kinda sucks for language learning
I dropped this book because it's hard enough that all the enjoyment from the story is gone. The writing isn't the best quality either; there are some really really long sentences that don't need to be that long - making it feel like bad writing rather than a stylistic choice that adds to the story. Because it's set during Japanese occupation theres a lot of vocab that is pretty useless to learn but still feels kind of necessary to fully grasp the story. At the time of writing this review 4/07/2024, my comprehension on Kimchi Reader in this book is 97.12% (21k words). Compared to other books I've touched recently (공간의 미래 and 살인자의 쇼핑몰) whilst my comprehension % is lower when I started reading in comparison to 1929년 은일당 사건기록 : 사라진 페도라의 행방 (which I first tried last year), they are much easier due to the style of writing, the vocab choices, etc. If you want something interesting to read, and you're good, then it's worth trying but if you are reading to improve Korean, it's definitely not the best choice.
