This is not a Japanese book, I know, but it is very beautifully written and translated. It also is written for like ten year olds, but it’s just as great for people of all ages. It has a sublime, enthralling story about imagination, growing up, and many important themes that can touch anyone’s heart, and it’s just a solid adventure story to boot. Obviously not too difficult either, although it can get a little poetic or philosophical on you from time to time.
