Synopsis
Entertaining story about a group of orphan children prodigies who escaped a secret research programme who decided to raise public awareness about the treatment they've had to endure in one of the most unorthodox ways possible: grab attention by planting bombs around the city and make up riddles that the police needs to solve to ensure everyone's safety.
Language difficulty
Even after having already watched the anime in English a long time ago, I was still taken aback by the sheer difficulty of the language. Between talks about nuclear science, Greek mythology, top secret government research programmes, and news-like coverage of the events, I was lost anytime an adult opened their mouth. It is definitely not daily-life vocabulary. If you're comfortable with the kind of language used in news reports and documentaries, I guess this anime wouldn't cause too many problems, but, personally I'm not.
If my Japanese skills were higher, perhaps I would have learnt more and wouldn't have graded the language learning aspect this “harshly” but it is what it is.
Comments on the series description
In passing, I'd like to say that Tokyo hasn't been decimated, per se, by a terrorist attack. Sure, there were material damages but the city is not totally destroyed and you shouldn't expect a post-apocalyptic setting. Second point, I find it odd that the description describes their plan as “heinous”. Without spoiling anything, it isn't particularly heinous as you will discover.
