Story: There are some things about this anime that are excellent, and some things that make you want to repeatedly bang your head against a wall. Definitely approach this as the comedy it's clearly intended to be. It's a mix of slice of life, fantasy plot, borderline harem (though the main couple is the only one that's ever entertained), borderline parody, chock full of fan-service, etc, in a way that can be really enjoyable (I don't usually like fan service, but it feels like it fits in this show). The whole scenario is absolutely ridiculous, and the show just rolls with that. The show's worst aspect is easily the female love interest - a semi-delusional, emotionally dependent, clingy yandere, who has no concept of in-game vs real life. A lot of the show is dedicated to rehabilitating her, and she does sort of improve over the course of the show, but it takes a long time (and she goes a bit off the deep end, in the meanwhile).
Otoh, the gaming aspect is incredibly well done - both in terms of the actual game, and the IRL players, and the dynamic between them. The MC has an actual personality, and the supporting characters are mostly the right amount of over-the-top silly. You could argue the supporting cast are a bit one-dimensional, but I actually think this is to the show's favor, and they do receive some development. Also I really appreciated that the tsundere character has a proper reason for being tsun, and also feels like a proper person after the initial stages of the show.
Language: If you're decently familiar with fantasy & MMO vocab and concepts, this show probably won't be too challenging. If not, this show might be a great way to pick some of that up. Otherwise it's normal everyday vocab and grammar. Definitely not an early anime, but not a late one either, imo.
As an aside, if you'd like a serious and extremely wholesome romance that blends MMO and real life instead, I'd highly recommend ネト充のススメ | L23
