Wholesome yuri manga with well-developed side characters, over the course of the story. Story is evenly paced, and neither MC is unrealistically dense or over the top. MCs have a very healthy and beautiful relationship.

Incredibly famous manga with an interesting, dramatic plot and characters. Would recommend it as a second or third manga. (Azusa's review covers it pretty well!)

Wholesome 癒し系 (iyashikei) series following a quirky witch who goes off to live with her relatives in the country for a year or so. The characters are all really interesting. It also has an anime adaptation you could watch as a primer. Note: later volumes get a bit harder, but vol 1-2 should be fine.

Adorable rom-com between a boy and his next-door neighbor, who wants to re-enact 幼なじみ tropes, to make up for the fact that she never had one. Probably the easiest thing on this list.

Another wholesome yuri. Note: this one has no furigana, and in that sense is probably a better 3rd read. That said, the language is on the simpler side. There is some gardening-specific vocab throughout the manga, but it's repeated often enough that it becomes familiar. Great for transitioning to non-furigana manga, in general.

Hilarious story of a high school girl who one day wakes up to learn she's half dragon. The comedy is spot-on the whole way through! This one will probably be a bit of a challenge early on, but there's also a voiced comic series by the publisher

Probably my favorite yuri series. Very unique take on a mismatched love, with interesting MCs and supporting characters. It's about as non-tropey as it gets, which is extremely refreshing (don't get me wrong, I love the standard yuri tropes, but it's nice to catch a breather). MCs work through their problems in very healthy ways, and you never know quite what to expect next. It has an upcoming anime I'm really looking forward to. Note: no furigana, but probably around the same difficulty as やがて君になる, but a bit clearer to read.

恋より青く 1
Manga
Level 20
A girl who's looking for something to do with her life, and a bookworm who misses being around other bookworms. A chance encounters leads them to bond over a book. A friendship (or more?) between them starts to bloom, as they each find a part of themselves to share with each other. I'd recommend it after having a read a few others. No furigana, except for first occurrence of names, and a few occasional odd words.

Set in a Romeo & Juliet-esque school setting, with 2 cool leads (one who works at a night cafe!). Art is beautiful, has occasional use of color, and there isn't any particularly complicated language

春とみどり 1
Manga
Level 18
Same author as 恋より青く, with surprisingly simple language (though it gets slightly hard in vol 2-3). The somewhat 人見知り(shy/reclusive) Midori (31) finds out her middle school best friend Tsugumi (who she clearly had feelings for) died, and while attending the funeral, meets Tsugumi's 14 year old daughter Haruko (who is the splitting image of her mother), and offers to take her in. The story unfolds from there, as they both adapt to and influence each other, and deal with their grief, and try to grow as people. The language was surprisingly simple. Note: the story is not a romance, and is overall very wholesome

Otaku girl goes for the beautiful girl, with very surprising results. It's a nice, wholesome story, with some good character development

Another (mostly) wholesome yuri. There's some school vocab that's a bit tricky if it's your first read, and a character who speaks in kansai dialect. But besides that, it's pretty straightforward. Note: earlier in the story there are some questionable consent scenes, but the characters and their relationship develops a very wholesome and supportive dynamic, where you really see them bring out the best in each other

School romcom (I have't read). No furigana, but simple vocab
School romcom (I haven't read). Partial furigana, simple vocab
Romcom with cooking (I haven't read), the slice of life parts of it are easy to understand, but the part where there’s cooking it become more difficult, as there’s cooking related vocab and verbs, so it’s 50/50 for easy and hard.
