This is a sweet story about a little monk, and the lessons adults can learn from children. The language is beautifully poetic, and the story has a lovely refreshing feeling about it.
Although it's a children's picture book, the vocabulary isn't as simple as one might expect: there are several words relating to Buddhism that will most likely be unfamiliar to the learner, as well as plenty of plant names; there is a lot of description compared to action and dialogue; and there are a few idioms and metaphors thrown in. The grammar is thankfully pretty straightforward.
If you don't mind the extra lookups, it's an enjoyable and rewarding read.
